I would like to share my January, 2024 progress. So far, our team gather together to plan and set out goals and expectations of our 2 minute film movie opening, After a lot of brainstorming we finally decided the name of our film, which will be a Teen Drama. We also came up with the name of our film “Pretty Girlz Kill,” which we believe conveys the message of the film and represents it perfectly. We distributed a task to each crew member, and for me, I have been working on creating our storyboard and planning the costumes for the filming.

Teen Drama!
When it comes to genres in films there is a broad variety to choose from. From horror to romance, the genre of the film will always have a strong influence on the filmmaking styles and techniques, which is the reason of why choosing a genre before the filmmaking process is so important.
One of the most popular genres in films is drama, but what is really Drama? Drama is a genre characterized by relying on the emotional development of realistic characters, where dramatic themes play a large role in the plot. In this genre, emotions and intense situations are the main focus. To have the opportunity to expand on the story's scope, genres can have a variety of sub genres, which is the subdivision of a larger genre.
If the genre of drama and teenagers are mixed together, you end up with the genre Teen Drama. Which, as its name suggests, it is a film genre targeted towards a younger audience by the plot being based on their special interests.
After sharing our ideas and opinions, my group decided to use the Teen Drama genre for our film. The reason behind this is because we could not decide between only one genre that would limit our creativeness, and this genre can delves into various topics and different genres, such as:
- Teen Drama Comedy.
- Thriller Teen Drama.
- Horror Teen Drama.
- Adventure Teen Drama.
- Friendship Teen Drama.
- Sci-Fic Teen Drama.
- Romantic Teen Dramas.
Some popular examples of these are:
Wardrobe
As we embark on the journey to create a movie inspired by "Mean Girls," one crucial aspect that demands attention is the wardrobe choices of our characters.
As a team, we all agreed to wear outfits that will represent the personalities of each of our characters, while maintaining that chic look and essence of the timeless classic.
The wardrobe choices of the characters will play a HUGE role in capturing the essence of the high school drama.

Storyboard
Storyboarding is crucial in filmmaking since it helps visualize the structure, pacing, and composition of a project before production begins.
We opted to use storyboard to ensure that our final product meets the intended goals and resonates with the audience.

Team distribution
Distributing tasks and responsibilities among the crew members is crucial to ensure efficient and collaborative production. Therefore, after discussing our strengths and abilities, a task was assigned to each of us. In my case, for the post-production stage, I was assigned the creative task of planning our clothes and sets. While my other colleagues work on different aspects of pre-production.

Camera shots, angles, and movements.
As we speak of the Teen Drama genre, it is not only about the story plot that add to its dramatic thrill, but the way camera shots, camera angles, and camera movements are used during the film.
Camera shots, movements and angles play a crucial role in conveying a message in a film. For example:
Camera angles: Different Camera angles offer various perspectives and evoke different emotions. For example:
A low angle shot can make a character appear powerful or intimidating.
A high angle shot can make a character seem vulnerable or weak.
Camera shot: Different camera shots can emphasize different elements of the scene or characters, influencing how the audience perceives them and their surroundings. For Example:
A Close-up Shot reveals a character's emotions.
A Medium Shot favors a characters body language.
An Establishing Shot tells the audience the location where the scene is taking place.
Camera movements: Guide the viewer's focus, create a sense of motion and reveal information. For example:
Camera pan shot rotate the camera horizontally to reveal something to the viewer or allow them to follow an action.
A Zoom movement brings attention to a subject.
Dolly Shot helps build up drama and tension.
